Summer 2015 build activities have commenced on the MVFL project. The objective of the MVFL Summer Build is to install 303 kilometers of buried 48 strand fibre optic cable from McGill Lake to Wrigley. Work has begun on the southern end of this route segment, and crews will continue working north to Wrigley until the end of the summer build season.
The summer build construction methodology is to utilize a cable plough to install conduit in the ground. Once the conduit reels are installed and connected, fibre optic cable will be jetted through the conduit using air compressors attached to cable jetting equipment. The fibre optic cable ends will then be spliced and tested according to their technical specifications.
Various construction crews will be working along the Mackenzie Valley Highway between the McGill Lake Tower and the community of Wrigley to complete the summer 2015 build. If you are a resident or visitor of this area, please be aware of signage and flaggers indicating where crews are at work. Your caution along construction zones is appreciated to help ensure the safety and success of our crews in the field.
